Heathrow Airport - Energy Management
Heathrow Energy Management is part of the Heathrow Engineering department and is responsible for managing and improving the airport's energy consumption.
Heathrow Airport is required to comply to the Energy Savings Opportunities Scheme (ESOS), a mandatory energy assessment scheme for large organisations in the UK. Failure to comply would result to fines worth millions of pounds (£).
Customer Requirements
The most effective way to demonstrate compliance to ESOS, given the Energy Profile of Heathrow Airport, the size and complexity of the organisation, was to comply and get certified to ISO 55001.
tQM pros Ltd were engaged to design and implement an Energy Management System.
Engagement Deliverables
There were three challenges that we needed to plan for, and overcome:
-
Measure accurately and track energy consumption for all Heathrow Holdings operations and infrastructure
-
Demonstrate practically the method(s) of decreasing and managing energy consumption
-
Demonstrate that Engineering had the resources to deliver the processes and achieve the above
Through in-depth data analysis, operational reviews, and interviews with stakeholders, we launched a targeted Process Transformation project that achieved the following:
-
An Energy Management System (EMS), a structured process framework, that is designed to gather and analyse energy consumption data, monitor performance and manage operations and resources that deliver the processes of the EMS
-
Implemented and integrated the Energy Management System (EMS) with the Engineering Integrated Management System (EiMS) via a carefully structured Launch & Implementation Plan
The EMS was successfully certified to the ISO 50001
Customer Benefits:
